Hi, I’m Miranda Briseño!
I'm a renter, transportation planner, public servant, caregiver, union leader, and community organizer. I'm running for City Council because I want to keep Medford moving forward for everyone.
I want to build a Medford that is accessible and inclusive for everyone: we deserve sidewalks that are always flat and clear of hazards, with curb ramps at every corner. I want to build a Medford that is safe and welcoming to everyone, no matter your identity or background. I want to build a Medford where everyone's needs are met, where we protect our most vulnerable residents, and where we invest robustly in our libraries, schools, transportation, public parks, and public spaces.
None of these goals for the Medford we deserve are possible without a budget that adequately invests in the programs and policies that put people first. I will fight for a City budget that begins to truly meet our shared needs, and I look forward to collaborating on all available strategies, from building our commercial tax base to insisting on fair PILOT compensation.
Nobody knows everything, but together we know a lot.
As a professional urban planner currently serving at MassDOT and with previous experience working in Medford City Hall, I will bring a unique and important skill set to the Medford City Council. In my previous planning role at Medford City Hall, I helped develop the COVID-19 Business Relief Grant program to support local businesses during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, and I helped establish the City's first Outdoor Dining protocols. In my current role at MassDOT, I help connect communities and regional planning agencies with funding to complete critical transportation projects throughout Massachusetts. I got my professional training right here in Medford at Tufts University’s Department of Urban & Environmental Planning & Policy, and I’m eager to continue giving back to the community I call home.
In addition to my planning work, I am passionate about working directly with my neighbors and local families. Over the years, I have developed deep ties with local families and community groups through my part-time work as a caregiver for neurotypical and neurodivergent children and through my advocacy work focused on pedestrian accessibility with the non-profit WalkMassachusetts. I have spent more than five years organizing with Mutual Aid Medford and Somerville (MAMAS), helping our neighbors access groceries and get help with other local needs, and I’ve been a proud member and campaign volunteer with Our Revolution Medford since 2020.
I look forward to meeting you and hope to earn your vote on September 16, 2025, and November 4, 2025!
